A festive holiday cocktail combining bold blanco tequila with sweet, spiced apple cider and fresh lime juice, finished with a fragrant cinnamon sugar rim.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh apple cider
  • 1 cup blanco tequila
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur (Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar mixed with 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for rimming)
  • Lime wheels for garnish
  • Ice (large cubes for serving, plenty for shaking)

Instructions

  1. Freeze margarita glasses for at least 15 minutes before starting.
  2. Mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon on a small plate.
  3. Run a lime wedge around the rim of each chilled glass and dip into the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat evenly. Tap off excess sugar.
  4. In a cocktail shaker, combine the blanco tequila, fresh lime juice, orange liqueur, and apple cider.
  5. Fill the shaker with ice (about half full).
  6. Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until the shaker feels very cold.
  7. Strain the mixture into the prepared glasses over fresh ice.
  8. Garnish with lime wheels and optional cinnamon sticks.
  9. Taste and adjust with more lime or cider if desired.

Notes

For best results, use fresh, unfiltered apple cider and freshly squeezed lime juice. If making a batch ahead, mix the tequila, lime, liqueur, and cider in a pitcher and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Add ice and rim glasses only when serving to prevent dilution and sugar dissolution. For a non-alcoholic version, swap tequila and liqueur for extra cider and ginger beer.
