Easy Fruit Salad Recipe for Beginners

easy fruit salad recipe - featured image

A fresh, easy fruit salad perfect for beginners that uses simple, everyday fruits with no strict recipe needed. Ready in under 10 minutes, it’s a healthy and colorful snack or side dish.

Ingredients

  • Fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • Ripe pineapple, peeled and chopped
  • Crisp apples, cored and diced (Fuji or Honeycrisp preferred)
  • Seedless grapes, halved
  • Bananas, sliced (optional, add just before serving)
  • Fresh blueberries or raspberries (optional)
  • Fresh mint leaves, finely chopped (optional)
  • Lime or lemon juice, about 1 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Gather and wash all the fruit thoroughly (about 5 minutes). Rinse berries gently to avoid squishing them. Drain well and pat dry if needed.
  2. Prep the fruit: hull and halve strawberries, core and dice apples, peel and chop pineapple, halve grapes, and slice bananas if using (around 10 minutes). Cut fruit into uniform sizes.
  3. Combine all chopped fruit in a large mixing bowl. Add optional berries or mint leaves if desired.
  4. Add about 1 tablespoon of fresh lime or lemon juice to brighten flavors and prevent browning. Toss gently with a spoon or spatula, folding lightly to avoid bruising the fruit.
  5. Chill the salad by covering and refrigerating for 15 to 30 minutes before serving to let flavors meld and cool.
  6. Serve fresh with a gentle stir and optionally garnish with fresh mint sprigs.

Notes

Add bananas just before serving to avoid browning. Use citrus juice generously to preserve color and freshness. Chill before serving for best flavor. Drain excess liquid if salad sits too long to prevent sogginess. Best eaten within 24 hours.
