easy homemade lemonade recipe - featured image

A quick and refreshing homemade lemonade made with fresh lemons, water, and a natural sweetener. Perfect for summer and easy enough for beginners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 46 medium fresh lemons (to yield about 1 cup / 8 fl oz of lemon juice)
  • 4 cups (1 quart) cold water
  • ½ cup (4 fl oz) honey, maple syrup, or granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • Optional: fresh mint leaves for garnish or muddling
  • Optional: lemon slices for garnish
  • Optional: ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Roll each lemon firmly on the counter using your palm to soften it, then cut in half.
  2. Use a citrus juicer or hand squeeze to extract about 1 cup (8 fl oz) of fresh lemon juice. Remove any seeds.
  3. In a pitcher or bowl, combine ½ cup (4 fl oz) honey (or preferred sweetener) with 1 cup (8 fl oz) of warm water. Stir until the sweetener dissolves completely.
  4. Add the remaining 3 cups (24 fl oz) of cold water and stir to blend everything evenly.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more sweetener, lemon juice, or water as desired.
  6. Chill the lemonade in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or serve immediately over ice cubes.
  7. Garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint leaves if desired.

Notes

Use warm water to dissolve honey or sugar for best results. Roll lemons before juicing to maximize juice yield. Chill lemonade for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld. Strain lemon juice to avoid seeds and pulp if desired. Adjust sweetness gradually to taste. For a fizzy version, substitute cold water with sparkling water just before serving.
