Easy Toast Recipe for Beginners

easy toast recipe for beginners - featured image

A foolproof method to make perfectly crispy toast every time, ideal for beginners and quick breakfasts.

Ingredients

  • Bread (sourdough, whole wheat, or classic white bread, about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick)
  • Unsalted butter, softened (optional)
  • Extra virgin olive oil (optional)
  • Salt (a light sprinkle)
  • Optional toppings: honey, jam, avocado, cinnamon sugar

Instructions

  1. Select fresh bread slices about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick.
  2. Set your toaster browning dial to medium (around 3-4).
  3. Place the bread slices into the toaster slots without forcing.
  4. Press down the lever and toast for 2-3 minutes, staying close to monitor.
  5. Check the toast color; if too light, toast again in 30-second increments; if too dark, lower the setting next time.
  6. While toast is still hot, spread softened butter or drizzle olive oil.
  7. Add salt and your favorite toppings such as jam, honey, or avocado.

Notes

Toast uniform slices together for even browning. Clean toaster crumb tray weekly to avoid smoke and uneven toasting. Apply butter immediately after toasting for best flavor and moisture. Keep finished toast warm in a low oven (200°F) if toasting multiple slices.
