A quick and easy caramel apple dip board perfect for baby showers and cozy gatherings, featuring a homemade silky caramel sauce, creamy cream cheese dip, crisp apples, and crunchy toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium apples (mix of Honeycrisp and Granny Smith), sliced just before serving
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream, warmed
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (optional, for salted caramel)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream, whipped to soft peaks
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts, toasted
  • 1/3 cup crushed toffee bits
  • Mini chocolate chips (optional)
  • Cinnamon powder (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the caramel sauce: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, slowly melt 1 cup of granulated sugar, stirring constantly with a heat-resistant spatula until it melts into a golden amber liquid (about 8 minutes).
  2. Add 6 tablespoons of softened unsalted butter to the melted sugar and stir until fully combined and bubbling.
  3. Slowly pour in 1/2 cup of warmed heavy cream while stirring; the caramel will bubble up again. Stir until smooth and glossy. Add 1/4 teaspoon sea salt if making salted caramel. Remove from heat and let cool slightly (about 10 minutes).
  4. Make the creamy dip: Beat 8 oz softened cream cheese with 1/2 cup powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until smooth and fluffy. In a separate bowl, whip 1/2 cup heavy cream to soft peaks, then gently fold into the cream cheese mixture.
  5. Just before serving, wash, core, and slice apples into 1/4-inch thick wedges. Arrange immediately on the serving board to prevent browning.
  6. Arrange the board: Place the creamy dip in a small bowl in the center and the caramel sauce in another bowl or jar. Surround with apple slices and small bowls of chopped nuts, toffee bits, and chocolate chips. Lightly dust apples with cinnamon powder.
  7. Add optional fresh mint leaves or edible flowers for color. Serve immediately and encourage guests to dip and mix toppings as desired.

Notes

Prepare caramel sauce and dip ahead of time and refrigerate; bring to room temperature before serving. Slice apples fresh to prevent browning; toss in lemon water if needed. Use patience when melting sugar to avoid gritty caramel. Whip cream to soft peaks for fluffier dip. Optional toppings can be customized. Vegan/dairy-free substitutions include plant-based cream cheese and coconut cream.
