These Spooky Mummy Pigs in a Blanket are a quick and easy Halloween appetizer made with just three ingredients. Wrapped in crescent dough strips, they look like adorable mummies and are perfect for parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8 count) hot dogs (preferably Hebrew National)
  • 1 can (8 oz) crescent roll dough (preferably Pillsbury seamless sheets)
  • Yellow mustard (for the eyes)
  • Everything bagel seasoning (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough. If using perforated sheets, press the seams together firmly to form a solid rectangle.
  3. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the dough lengthwise into 8 long strips, each about 1 inch wide.
  4. Take one strip of dough and wrap it around one hot dog, starting at one end and working to the other. Leave about 1/2 inch of hot dog exposed at the top for the face. The dough should overlap slightly but not be stretched too tight.
  5. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between each.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and puffy.
  7. Let cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes.
  8. Dip a toothpick or the tip of a knife into yellow mustard and dot two small eyes onto the exposed hot dog at the top.

Notes

For best results, use full-fat crescent dough. Assemble up to 4 hours ahead and refrigerate; add 2-3 minutes to bake time. Freeze unbaked mummies for up to 3 months; bake from frozen at 375°F for 15-18 minutes. Add mustard eyes after baking.
